Preventing mess and colonisation by pigeons

Solar panels are like magnets to Feral Pigeons, they offer shelter and security along with a high degree of safety for nesting and raising a family. For a pigeon, it’s difficult to find a more attractive home but from our point of view it’s difficult to imagine a less attractive tenant!

Solar Panel Protection

Solar panels are like magnets to Feral Pigeons, they offer shelter and security along with a high degree of safety for nesting and raising a family. For a pigeon, it’s difficult to find a more attractive home but from our point of view it’s difficult to imagine a less attractive tenant!

When the pigeons first arrive you can expect to be woken early seven days a week and spend an awful lot of time cleaning droppings and nesting materials from your patio or drive. As they become established the numbers will increase and you will find broken eggs and even young pigeons added to the droppings and nesting materials. All this mess also gets trapped in your gutters and once blocked there is a very real potential for water damage to the building itself.

Added to all of the above is the potential for several species of biting insects to find their way from the nests into your loft space and from there it’s just a short hop to the bedrooms!

We deal with these problems on a daily basis. First, all birds and eggs will be removed, then we will remove as many of the nests as possible (if built around cables they may be left to break down naturally) once this is done we will prevent further access by installing galvanised or stainless steel weld mesh and we will guarantee that pigeons can no longer access the void below your solar panels.

All fixings to the solar panels will be non-invasive nylon or aluminium clips, depending on your installation’s design and type we might very occasionally have to use self drilling screws on the supporting framework and clamps on the panels.

Our final task will be to inspect your gutters and clear them if needed, ensuring they are not blocked and water can run freely.

Having carried out this work for over 15 years we are industry leaders for both quality and price.

Based in the Nottingham, in the East Midlands we can quote nationwide, usually a few photos and a look using Google Earth is enough. We complete the vast majority of jobs without the need for scaffolding and where needed we have our own MEWP (Cherry Picker).  Quotations are always free so contact us now.

Pigeons
Pigeons

The Feral Pigeon (Columba Livia) is descended from the Rock Dove and is a natural cliff dweller, as such it is perfectly at home in our towns and cities because it sees each building as just another cliff to be colonised.

House Martins
House Martins

These migratory birds are only a problem for a limited time each year but if you have a few of them nest above your door you’ll certainly appreciate the problems they cause.

Gulls
Gulls

When hunting for food or protecting their nests gulls can be incredibly aggressive. If you’re unlucky enough to have them nest on your property you’ll know what a threat they can be when they’re looking after their eggs or young. Even if it’s just a regular loafing spot the mess beneath can be enormous.

Canada Geese
Canada Geese

First introduced to Britain in the 17th century, the lack of natural predators and abundance of food has seen this specie’s population grow to the point where it is often referred to as a pest.

Ground Nesting Birds

If you have any kind of project planned which involves ground disturbance, at certain times of the year you need to take into account the possibility of ground nesting birds.
