The pigeons really were making a mess and blocking up the gutters.
Gutters were overflowing as the pigeon poop had acted like fertiliser - feeding weeds that were growing up there.
As soon as we'd got our super-strong pigeon mesh installed we cleared the gutters and they should stay largely unblocked now thepigeons aren't around to mess them up.
